The Distinctive Tomer Devorah
Curriculum |
| Our core
curriculum consists of a wide range of fundamental topics
that form the backbone of Torah knowledge for any Jewish
woman [Click here to see class
listings]. In addition, there are two levels of
electives offered at Tomer Devorah. |

Elective opportunities: |
One style of
elective classes offers the students a choice from among a
variety of classroom courses taught in the school. In order
to offer a student the opportunity to maximize her pursuit
of those topics that interest her, students will be offered
the option of changing these elective classes mid-year.

Our second elective program is our Afternoon Beit Midrash
Session. Tomer Devorah offers its students a truly unique
opportunity to advance their knowledge and skills on a
completely personalized basis. Three afternoons a week,
students have required study periods in the Tomer Devorah
Beit Midrash. During this time, students have the option to
study either in groups or with tutors and focus on whatever
area of Torah they wish. From Divrei Torah on the weekly
Parshat HaShavua to Chassidus and everything in between,
students can choose how they want to spend their own Beit
Midrash time. |

The Accelerated Beit Midrash Track: |
| But that is not
all. We take personal choice and student-centered learning
to the next level. An Accelerated Beit Midrash Track is
offered for students wishing to hone Torah-text and
comprehension skills and/or breadth of knowledge. If a
student chooses to do so, she may opt to accelerate any of
her core curriculum courses. On a completely optional basis,
course instructors will provide supplementary material to
students to work on during their afternoon Beit Midrash
period. Working on sources and mekorot that complement the
course material will give those students who choose to
accelerate their classes an even deeper and more profound
understanding and mastery of the subjects they are learning
in class. This is just one more way in which Tomer Devorah
seeks to nurture and cultivate each individual student’s
skills and learning desires, helping them attain their goals
for their year in seminary and beyond. |
