The Tomer Devorah Environment

Stimulation… comfort… warmth… |

We see a student’s year in seminary as a once in a lifetime
opportunity. An opportunity to focus on and connect with herself and
her Judaism in a way that she may never have done before and may not
have the chance to do again.
The bedrock of the Tomer
Devorah educational philosophy is that in order to maximize
growth, a student must have the very best educational opportunities
open to her along with an environment that is maximally conducive to
introspection, maturing and personal character development. Our skilled and experienced teaching staff is focused on
cultivating a challenging curriculum, while at the same time
providing a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

We realize that many students, while not wanting to
compromise on a first-rate, intellectually stimulating
education, do not wish to take the competitive and at times
intense high school atmosphere with them to seminary. Our
personable and dedicated staff is committed to providing an
environment that is comfortable and welcoming for our
students. In addition, with our small class sizes and high
staff-to-student ratio (including full-time madrichot and
mechanchot), our students will have an array of warmth and
talent available to them for guidance in navigating through
this most significant of years.
Appreciating that for this year, Tomer Devorah is a
student’s “home away from home,” we have the highest
sensitivity to the student’s physical needs and comforts
being met as well. Whether it’s with the two hot meals
provided daily or the “American” furnishings in the dorms,
we realize that a comfortable, “taken care of” feeling is a
necessary prerequisite to maturing and growth. Our lounge
room, complete with couches, email center, hot cocoa and
piano, is available as a soft comfortable setting for
friendly discussion, relaxing or just hanging out. |
